The Hindu mythology depicts Lord Vishnu to be the creator of the infinite universe which do expands into each component of it. He is the one who maintains the balance and cosmic cycle of the whole universe.
As quoted in Krishna Upanishad, “The world rests as the lotus in the palm of my hand, the cosmos revolves around my finger like a discus. I blow the music of life through my conch and wield my mace to protect all creatures.”

Lord Vishnu is often portrayed resting on the huge serpent of Sesha. We see that the thousand heads of Sesha are all turned inward, representing a tranquil mind, and looking toward the Absolute Truth of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is also seen in the yogic sleep called yoga-nidra. The yoga-nidra (yoga or the root yuj meaning to connect or join) is a cosmic sleep wherein the Lord is focused on the Infinite Reality of His own identity. This form of the supreme is known as Parabhramana.
Now scientifically, we can relate Lord Vishnu to the form of an energy that regulates the whole universe, which is the basis of all lifeforms existing, existed or the life forms still unknown. According to the relevance to the theory of nothingness where the whole universe emerged out of its initial state of nothing. That initial state can be explained well as ''when there was nothing, there was still the supreme Lord(energy)" in its nameless, formless dormant form.
In this Nothingness, when the first ripple of awareness stirred , spontaneously and of its own will, the formless energy became Vishnu, the Supreme Being,Parabrahman. This can be related to the big bang concepts and creation of energy that circulates the whole universe.
The mythology depicts that Brahma begins the process of Creation, and it is Vishnu who expands into everything and becomes part of everything. Now he is Brahman(universe), the Cosmic Consciousness, and cosmological cycle models relating to contraction and expansion of the universe.

From the Nirguna Brahman( formless energy) Vishnu thus becomes Saguna Brahman(energy), a God with forms and attributes. Vishnu is now the Supreme Lord,Parameshwar. This describes the existence of Lord Vishnu since eternity and would be eternal. Which connects to the concepts of the Einstein Law of Conservation of Mass Energy where "energy can neither be created nor destroyed".
This is all a part of the process of how the Lord and His expansions of Vishnu maintain the world. As mankind engages in acts of sacrifice or spirituality, which simply means the worship of the Supreme, the Lord and the demigods are automatically satisfied to supply everyone with all necessities of life. In this way, there can be proper cooperation between man, nature and God so that everyone can be peaceful and content with the facilities for living in this world.
